This is what I returned home to last night after a brief trip to a local craft store. James had been jumping on the top bunk in Isaac and Eli's room. He fell from the bunk directly on to the hardwood floor, and apparently used his head to break his fall. When I walked in the door Eli was crying because he thought he would be sent to jail (I'm not quite sure why). Isaac was just fresh from a melt down because he didn't want to look at the bump, and Danny had made him. James was in the better spirits than either of them. He kept saying "Owie head", and "I fall". Um, yeah. This gave him a lot to relate to when I started reciting "One little monkey jumping on the bed, he fell off and broke his head..."

This isn't funny, but I'm still laughing. Ryan and I both find it funny that Danny made Isaac look at the bump. Classic. We heart you guys. (And tell Isaac not to feel too bad-- I can barely stand to look at the picture). So sad about James though. That's a heck of goose-egg/headache. Hope he doesn't hurt for too long.
Oh, ho, ho! Poor guy!!!
That picture is priceless...and I can just see Isaac and Eli and their contributions to the trauma - hilarious!
Awesome glimpse of a night at the Nydegger's. Hope James' little head heals up soon!
Sis, that was the goose egg heard 'round the world.
I don't think James will be taking that shortcut to the floor anytime soon.
Great pictures. I'll bet the whole crew was rewarded with some valuable takeaways from the ordeal when order was finally restored.
Thats funny!
Clarification. Though it is true I made Isaac face the egg and look at it, that isn't what caused his meltdown. It was because of his meltdown, that he was crying and screaming louder than James was, that I made him stop being selfish, step up and face his fear.
Danny, this is exactly what we love about you. You are so wise and resourceful, a perfect mix of sternness and compassion. It didn't actually occur to me that the facing the egg would cause Isaac's meltdown, but thank you for the clarification. I admire your creative solution.
oh...my...gosh...that so reminds me of alison and the goose egg split her bangs apart. ouch! xox
At least I know that if Alison had a goose egg like that James has a chance at having a normal forehead.
That looks painful! I hope James is feeling better now.
WOW! that looks so sore. I think everyone of our kids had at least one goose egg. Of course Richy had the most! I bet he made a pretty loud sound when he fell. We love you James!
OUCH! That looks like it hurts!
That is some goose egg. We have had worse!
